The Process and Resources:
In this WebQuest, you and a group of students will be working together. Each member of the group you will explore articles from people all over the world who have contributed their knowledge on the subject. Therefore these are real-life articles, not things made just for schools, the reading level might be a bit difficult that usual. Please feel free to use the Merriam-Webster WWWebster Dictionary or a dictionary in your classroom. After being divided into pro-immigration and con- Immigration groups, you'll begin with everyone in your group getting some background on assigned topic. Then, each group will come back together to address the Quest(ion)/Task with videocast displaying main ideas circulating what they’ve learned. Following the videocast, a debate will commence to open up a discussion on what members of group learned about each stance on the subject. After teacher splits you into four groups.
You must have 10 pieces of evidence (facts) from the websites provided. Your group must present your information discovered from research in a videocast format , must be 6-8 minutes and all group members must speak during presentation. After your presentation, hand your teacher a bibliography of the websites used for research. At the end of the presentations, there will be a vote for which group did the best job presenting their side of the argument (you cannot vote for your own group). The winning group will get 5 EXTRA POINTS added to their project grade.
